Why Many Are Getting Lasik Laser Vision Correction
Nowadays, a lot of people are considering getting lasik laser vision correction so that they can see better and normally. There are still other refractive surgery procedures that can be performed, but Lasik is the most popular. Although its correct name is Lasik, a lot of people are calling it Lasix. The name stands for “laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis.”
But why has this procedure become so popular? This is probably because this procedure has several advantages over the other procedures for vision correction. One of the most dominant advantages of this procedure is that there is a comparable absence of pain to be felt after the procedure. And aside from this lack of pain, good vision can be achieved on the very next day after the surgery.
The procedure makes use of an instrument known as a microkeratome so that a thin, circular flap is created in the eye cornea. But there is a new way of making the flap. This is through the use of a laser. What the procedure does is that the hinged flap is folded back out of the way by the surgeon. He will then remove some of the corneal tissue underneath with the use of an excimer laser. This is a laser which makes use of an ultraviolet beam that will precisely remove the very small tissue bits from the cornea so that it will be reshaped.
Once the cornea has been reshaped in the right manner, it will be able to better focus the light into the eye as well as the retina. As a result, clearer vision can be achieved. After the procedure, the flap is laid back onto its place so that the area where the removed tissue from the cornea will be concealed.
This is why a lot of people are getting lasik laser vision correction. There are lesser risks involved in this process and will get faster results in no time.
